Okay everyone, I'm sleep deprived, though I did just grab a few hours of sleep that I'm waking up from now. I feel like a total zombie, but a HAPPY one!!!
We just rolled in from Winter Garden, FL (at Orlando) this morning at 10:30 with our beautiful Raptor.
Here's the long story: (insert hillbilly fiddle music here)
We paid a deposit to Sun Coast RV (a big chain) to hold the Raptor we were wanting until we got there to give it a looking over. If it wasn't what we wanted we were not going to buy it. Agreed with the salesman from Sun Coast at Winter Garden and he said the unit we wanted was at the Jacksonville, Fl area. We were overjoyed because Jacksonville was only 7 hours away from us as opposed to the 10 hour drive to the Orlando area. We planned this carefully and left at 7:30am yesterday morning. I drove the interstate 7 hours as my husband rested (that's a whole other story....he delivered our Jayco to the guy in PA the day before...)
Sooo....once we got to the Jacksonville store, they had never heard of us. My husband almost had a stroke and the people from that dealership called the winter garden dealership and said the unit was THERE!!! NOT in Jacksonville!!! Some horrible confusion has happened. So, there we were, 3:00pm faced with the fact that we had to drive approx 2 and a half hours further south to pick up our Raptor, knowing that if we do, there's no way we could get back home earlier than the next morning if we drove back all night. And we were responsible for my mother's cookout the next day with all the family for Mother's Day.
We chose to go on to Winter Garden. I drove the rest of the way trying to calm my husband down all the way there as he was really upset. Once we got there at 5:30pm (the dealership closed at 6pm) we did the walk through and were very impressed with the Raptor. Oh man is it ever nice!! The technician was wonderful. So we hitched up and out of there by 7:10pm.
On the way home after about an hour or so, we realized we could NOT make the entire trip without sleeping. We also couldn't sleep while the other drived as we were scared the other would fall asleep. So we stopped at a rest center, (with security) and crawled back in the back of that Raptor and slept for 2 hours. A new mattress still covered with plastic never felt so good!!
Then we pressed on. 3 hours later, we realized again we could go no futher and stopped at a rest stop and slept 3 more hours. So, by 10:30 am we were back home and cooking hamburgers.
This was all a good plan in theory, but we did not leave room for error and will NEVER attempt so many things in one weekend again! But thank goodness, it all worked out and we love our Raptor. They sure did think of everything when they designed this one.
Our first trip with it will be in a week and a half to Myrtle Beach Bike week for half the week. MAYBE I'll be rested up again by then.
Here's a pic til I can get out and take better ones and update my web page. Big isn't she?? But pretty....
