I'm pretty sure that the 12V converter is dependent on having a complete circuit that includes the batteries... But, that said, a check of the battery wires for short circuits might be in order...
Many times there is a panel under an elevated fridge as stated above, but there can be a miscellaneous panel in a hallway too...
In my Class A, the power panel (A/C distribution and 12V converter) was behind a wood panel that was below a shallow pantry that backed up to the shower... It looked like a cabinet door with no hardware... (it was held in place with spring clips...)
