Question 2016 Outdoor Creekside 23DBS furnace question

We purchased a 2016 Outdoor Creekside 23DBS. My question is the furnace start up. The manual says to start the furnace, turn the gas off, set the thermostat temp above room temperature. It says the blower should come on, which it does. However, the manual wants the blower to run for 5 minutes before we turn on the gas, but the blower shuts off in about 30 seconds. Any ideas would be appreciated. The manual says to call the dealer if this happens.

Why would you have the gas off to start furnace!!?? I would assume that the bottles are turned off?? There is no easily accessible valve on the furnace. Turn the bottles on, check that the propane is flowing by using stove burner. Set furnace temp (stat set to heat of course!!), the furnace should start up after a short time. Listen for the igniter snapping before you hear the propane light. Normally, the furnace will run for a short while after you shut down or the stat reaches set temp or if it doesn't start (which you are experiencing!!). You DON'T have to run the furnace for 5 mins before turning on the propane!!!

Your furnace seems to be doing what it was designed to do.

1. The thermostat calls for heat
2. The combustion exhaust fan comes on, confirmed by the sail switch.
3. Confirmation of exhaust is followed by calling for gas/fuel. If there is no pilot or the gas is off, the system will stop after 30 seconds. Otherwise it's..
4. Ignition of gas, followed by calling for operation the blower fan.

Without gas, you'll have no pilot light, and without a pilot light, the rest of the system will not fire.

Somehow you are reading your manual incorrectly. The furnace in our 2016 Creekside worked exactly like propchef said. Operate it like Tuquala suggested. We did have a problem with the burner cycling when running. That was easily fixed by adding an additional vent.

Furnace working.

Thanks for the replies. It didn't make sense to us..we were pretty sure the propane needed to be on first, however, the manual really does say to turn OFF propane before setting the temp and to let the blower run before turning on propane. Thanks again.

How could a manual possibly be wrong?

The only way the instructions would make any sense is if they want to clear out as much dust as possible prior to lighting the furnace to avoid that "first turn on of the season" smell. The five minutes makes no sense since the furnace will turn itself off if it doesn't light. Personally, I'd turn the gas on and turn the furnace on to see if it works. I'd do it when I could leave everything open to clear out the smell. As a side note, furnace most likely has no pilot light so you should hear it clicking as it tries to light (like a BBQ). It might take a few attempts if the gas has been off.
