A/C Question

Ac working fine now but last night after getting to camping about 2 hrs into ac on it shut off and rest of power to camper was good. Had the ac on low fan setting so should have stayed on indefinitely. Had to go through ac control panel and recycle through to setting I was already on then it kicked back on. Another time had to unplug unit from main pedestal. Any thoughts?

There is a freeze sensor on most of the A/C units that will shut it off if the evaporator coils begin to freeze. Some times this is caused by running the fan on low speed in high humidity conditions. Try running the fan on high.

If it freezes what happens? Would auto mode be good option?

If the evaporator condenses moisture and it freezes, ice builds up on evaporator coil. Less and less air moves across evaporator. Less air means less cooling. Eventually enough ice would block most air flow.

AC controller shuts down the compressor until ice melts then starts again. The solution under any given heat and humidity conditions is to turn the fan on "high". If the fan automatically shuts off when the compressor stops, set the fan to run continuously. The fan running will speed melting of ice.

I wish you good luck and happy trails ahead!

Gotcha, so I shouldn't have done any damage? I recycled through controlls and it would kick back on and probably did that around 4-5 times over the weekend. Always seem to have good airflow
