Yep; ever notice that in the vast majority of the trailer crash videos there is something added to the back of the trailer? At the very least, weigh the loaded tongue weight to ensure it's still adequate - 12% minimum

No. They clear the lights. The only time one light will be block is when one is looking at them from a sharp angle off of either side.
