Almost new camper bathroom renovations

2021 Gulfstream Ameri-Lite...its had a few issues for sure but this is what I call the snowball effect. The tub drain started leaking because the plumbers putty failed...and well tub was never level (water leaked over the edge) so might as well fix it all right? So pulled the tub and the caulk I used to replace the silicone last year stuck so well that it started pulling the wall covering off and then decided I might as well gut it so I can add supports for a nicer shower rod. Upon opening the walls I noticed the 2x6 holding the awning was not attached to the top plate at all. Then noticed there was a floating stud. And well...the wall supporting the tub was just screwed down with two screws and caulked in place... So here we have it, almost new camper with a partially gutted bathroom. The fun never ends... All structural issues have now been fixed, and tomorrow ill be putting 5mm ply in place of the 3mm. Then priming it with wallpaper primer and putting up some new paper. To be continued...

As someone said, if you want it done right. Do it yourself. Looks like you have it under control.

Just goes to show you how shoddily these things are built. You really just have to expect some problems and be able to fix them yourself.

Made a bit of progress today. Walls closed in with 5mm poplar ply and decided to try peel and stick tile. To make it more water resistant I squished caulk between the joints. TBD on how it all holds up. Hopefully it does because I put the ply up with 15 gauge nails...and they stay put quite well. Tomorrow it will/should be all wrapped up for our camping trip this weekend.

Really nice work. It is amazing how important a well functioning bath can be.

Bathroom done! Added a shutoff for the toilet, made the panel in front of the tub removable and cut the abs pipe so I could add a fernco so the pipes can move. Also decided to replace two cabinet shelves and add supports. Onto the next project whatever it may be...

Nice work!!

Campers are simply built and easy to work on.

The cramped space is the biggest obstacle.
