Another slide problem.

I have a 2004 Fleetwood wilderness advantage travel trailer. the slide worked several times, then would not retract. some friends 'helped' me by pushing it in. however, when they did, it got out of alignment by 2-3 inches. it is a rack and pinion system. I do not know if it was made by lippert or power gear. Does anyone have an idea how to adjust the slide? I have watched so many utubes, I am dizzy. lol.

also, the motor runs, it moves about 1 inch then shuts off.

Thanks for any help.

Here is a YouTube video that might help. If it does not there are other videos on YouTube that might.

Do you know what kind of slide it is? Schwintek slides are notorious for this - there's an easy reset procedure but I'll wait until you post what it is.

Robbie H, it is a rack and pinion, not schwintec. my manual gives directions to bring it in manually, but I have to first 'unbind' it.

Have someone hold the slide button to close, then use an impact wrench to turn the motor manually. Try bringing the whole slide in and see if it self aligns. If this ever happens again, the procedure above is how to close the slide.

6 riders, pretty sure that would not 'help' my situation, but thank you.
I have found a uTube video that I believe is going to do the job. John C RV slideout alignment. mine is accessible from under the trailer, but looks just the same.

wish me luck.

Another slide issue? My dealer said he never sees slide issues. I know I don’t. No wonder Airstream quit building units with slides quite a few years ago. My Nash also has no slide. Never miss it.
