Regarding weekend use: Actually that is somewhat easy to answer. One can only deduct expenses relating to the percentage of business use vs. personal use. If I use my company owned trailer (similar to a vehicle) for bonified business use the ENTIRE year- of course 100% of the expenses to maintain that trailer (insurance, repairs, maintenance, utility costs, phone, internet, space rental etc PLUS depreciation) are deductable as business expenses to the S-Corp. If I use that trailer for personal use, I must come up with a reasonable percentage of costs attributed to personal use. i.e. if I take the trailer on a 1-week vacation during that 52-week year, 1/52 (about 2%) of the annual costs to maintain that trailer cannot be considered for business use. I have also heard of some folks RENTING their company owned items back to themselves.
I know there is a lot of talent out there and surely I can not be the first one to attempt to discuss this kind of stuff on this fine Forum.
I thank you for your input.
