Back Up Camera power, Salem Cruise Lite

2018 Salem Cruise Lite pre wired for Furrion camera. Added camera today and camera came on as soon as I plugged it in. Trailer not connected to truck and marker lights not on. Did Forest River hot wire the camera to battery? If so is there a switch somewhere for it?

I may need to add battery shut off switch since trailer will be stored often and don't want camera to kill battery.

Camera only gets power when tail lights on tow vehicle are on.

Trailer is not connected to anything. Sitting on campsite. Camera still on.

The backup camera on our Road Warrior is hard-wired to the battery like your camera. Since you are sitting on a campsite with it plugged in to the shore power system, the battery should be okay. The converter will keep your batteries charged, just make sure of the water level in the batteries.

If you want to disconnect the camera, check at the battery it is probably wired directly to one of the positive posts. There will probably be a small in-line fuse, just remove the fuse and write yourself a note to reconnect before travel.

I routed my camera to an empty fuse in the converter and added a switch next to the camera. Pretty happy with the way it worked out.

They should be connected to the R/V taillights as carybosse said. i have one ready to install, a Kenwood it connects to the tow vehicle reverse lights. the Kenwood navigation has the display on the navigation screen when it go's in reverse. i'm also thinking about putting some reverse lights at the rear of the T/T there's been many times we have got to our camp spot after dark, lights would be nice. the plug is already set up for them just need to run wire to the back of the T/T.

Another owner reported the same condition. He could not find a switch. A call to the dealer or Forest River got warranty coverage to reconnect to running lights or backup lights.

On my Dutchmen Kodiak Cub the Furrion fixture was just below the running lights. It would be easy to open the fixture and move the connection to the running lights just above the fixture.
