Bearing inspection
I am doing my first bearing repack. Here are few pictures of bearing and race.
https://ibb.co/kcT55Sx
https://ibb.co/t8J92fq
There is some discolouration inside the bearing (first picture).
Can I continue using it?
Unfortunately during this season we won’t travel a lot, probably around 1,000 miles.
I hope it will be safe to tow it this year and I will replace these next year.

When I zoomed in it almost looks like there is some scoring on the rollers of the bearing. If so I'd replace. The hard part is taking them apart, your more then 1/2 way there.

That bearing and race ( cup ) needs to be replaced.
I marked a failing roller.
In the second picture, if you can feel that scratch, it need to be replaced.
With bearings you change both peices anyway.

In the first pic, that looks like his fingerprint in the grease on the roller, not a scored roller!

Those don't look bad IMO.
How many miles on them?

When it doubt, throw it out. Bearing kits are cheap enough. Like mentioned above, you're half way there.

the bearing and race are about $20 , if you have any question in your mind replace them. Your photos with grease still on them are not good enough to give you a yes or no. The discoloration on the inside of the bearing body that sits against the hub is not a concern , in fact I would guess it was rust prior to them getting grease and installed. See if you can get a set of Timkins off amazon or E trailer.com, They most likely will be made off sure but in my opinion better quality the those that have no brand names. Pitting in the race(hub side ) and pitting on the rollers on the bearing is a sign that it needs replaced and completely clean out the hub side ,there is some thing solid mixed in with the grease.

Bearing and seal look good from here. Just don't get any dirt on them. I am more concerned with your reassembly techniques, since you say this is your first repack job. I'll let the "experts" weigh in first on that issue.

Change the bearing. It may last another year but then again in may fail tomorrow. Then you'll probably destroy whatever the bearing and shaft is attached to, at great expense.

my opinion also^^^ they look fine. you can check the race by running your finger nail across it, should be NO roughness or pits should be nice and smooth and shinny. but new bearings are cheep.

Thank you all!
Cleaned all the bearings this morning, looks good.
I have another question. There is some space between inner and outer bearings.
Was I supposed to fill this space with the grease?

About one/third full or so of the space should be filled with grease. Yes.

Several years ago I had issues with bearings. If there is any imperfection in any surface get rid of them. Do not buy anything but Timkin if you want them to last. Learned that from the bearing supply store where I was purchasing bearings. Theirs were not Temkin. Once I went to the Timkin's my problems went away.
