Boot Camp worth it ??

Good Morning, I have been in my TT for about 10 days now and I have experienced several small but important issues. I have made it thru with the help and advice from many on IRV2. I am now considering taking the Escapess Bootcamp and I would like the thought of others on this issue. Is it worth it and will I learn some of the things I need to know about RVing and my TT ? Experience is the best teacher but education can straighten the learning curve if correctly presented and absorbed. So I am asking what the experienced RVers think of the bootcamps.

Thanks
Thomas

We did the one day boot camp a few years ago at my wife's request after we had been at this for a couple of years.

I thought what a waste I already know all that stuff and in reality, I was about 80% correct but still picked up some things that were worthwhile.

For the wife, it was great because she now understood so much more about how the systems worked and some of the "Mystery" was gone. We met some great people and thought that it was worth the $$

I thought I knew everything, but my bride corrected me about that!!!!
I have about a zillion miles driving--but went to the AARP senior driving class just to get a small insurance discount.
Shucks and by golly, I learned several things. I still use them every time I venture out. Go to the class--you'll probably meet nice folks and get a sticker or a towel for your dash. Have fun.
One side note---I think that the spouse (meaning the wife) should know how to drive, park, and back the rig! My wife didn't tell me to write that either.

I'll second this. I frequently recommend Long Long Honeymoon on forums when in-experienced people ask how to learn. LoLoHo has lots of good travel videos but they also have lots of good videos on everything from dumping tanks to backing into a campsite, setup, etc.

Something they recently mentioned in a video and I have tried it several times since then and its great, is when using the campground showers.... they are usually ill designed and water tends to get sprayed out or runs out into the little dressing area in the stall. Its a horrible design issue I have seen several places. Their suggestion is to carry pet training pads with you, and when done with the shower, as you get dried enough to not drip everywhere, grab the pad and open it onto the floor. It gives you something clean and dry to stand on so you can slip off your flip flops and get dressed, and when done, you just chuck it in the trash.

I had most of a case left from about ten years ago when I had an elderly cat that was peeing everywhere. I have put a good stock of them in the trailer for future trips.

The Escapees Boot Camp can be very helpful to the newer folks to RVing.

I rarely use a CG shower but pet pads will be on board with us from now on. Fantastic idea!

A lot depends on your personal learning style, having said that there are a lot of RV tips and tricks videos available on youtube for free, of course not all are good, and you get what you pay for. Still before signing up for such a boot camp I would try watching an hour or so per day of youtube RV videos, and see how you feel about the topic in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to All

I will be taking your advice and I will be taking the Escapees RV Boot Cam in February 2022. This will provide me much needed TT information and a beautiful 2000 mile trip across I-10. My first extended trip in my TT.

Loloho has some good, educational vids, but is no match for hands-on training at an RV boot camp

Agree X2! When we started full-timing ~11 years ago YouTube and the internet, in general, were not as well developed as sources of information. We went to a ~3 day Escapees Boot Camp when we first started and it was definitely worthwhile, but today you probably could get all of that material off of YouTube and similar sources.

OTOH, if you're truly a novice RVer then it would be reassuring to have someone prepare a "curriculum" and vet the information presented in it.

As someone said, "it's all in your learning style". How do you like to receive information?

Learning style is key. Personally, I am a learner by printed text and the videos can be annoying. Just provide me with written text, diagrams, and photos.

Well, we are talking about RVs, not F-35s.
