As I was raising the day/night shades (blinds) something snapped and the blinds became too "loose" to push back up. One side of the cord went into the bottom track, which I was able to get back out, but can't seem to figure out how to adjust them to operate correctly. Can anyone suggest where I can get them repaired?

This just recently happened to me and I repaired the shade very quickly.
I removed the two screws holding the side valance to make it more accessible. Then, I untied the knot in the cord; retied the knot about one-half inch lower. Then, I looped the cord around the round, clear plastic "gizmo" at the bottom, which has a screw in the center. This will pull it tight and personally I think it's a whole lot better than the flimsy original way they are attached. I repaired another shade the same way about a year ago and it still works great.
Take a look at a shade that isn't broken and I think you can see more clearly how it is supposed to work. There is a small loop on the plastic "Gizmo" that the cord is tied to. That is what is supposed to hold the cord tight.This small loop is what breaks. Normally this is on the right side of the shade, hidden by the valance.

Thank you for your help! I did have to remove the bottom "slide track" as the cord had gotten inside. I also learned that on the small width blinds, the cord that comes down the right side of the blind needs to come out the left end cap and then attached to the holder on the wall.

Our rig is 5 years old and the blinds are going one by one. The cord frays and then the blinds won't work. I shipped one back to the manufacturer and they repaired it for $15.00, but the shipping was about $50.00. Now two more are going so I am trying to find a local place that can restring the blinds so I can save on the shipping.

We broke one and decided to take it apart and see for ourselves how it was strung. Went out and bought some line and fixed the broken shade in about 10 minutes. When the next one broke, we knew what to do and did that one too. Save some money and try it yourself.

Thanks Ray in Indiana for the FixMyBlinds.com info. I ordered the cord and a needle and we will be trying to fix our blinds ourselves as they are all going to fray sooner or later, and I don't want to do the mailing back and forth etc.

I've never tried it, but some folks say they have used heavy nylon fishing line instead of the cotton cord.

I went to Wally World and got nylon twine of approx same diameter and replaced ours. Works like a Champ!
