Check my weight ticket, I may be overweight
Tow vehicle 2018 Silverado 1500 dbl cab.
Payload 1749. GVW 7200. Brand new Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's HL tires. ( I wasn't going to put an LT tire on this truck because it's my wife's daily driver)
TT 2002 Hornet 25FL
Empty wt 4900( allegedly)GVW 6200. Brand new Goodyear Endurance tires.
Weight with full tank of gas and me in it .
The only thing missing is my two dogs total weight 20 lbs.
I'm moving my daughter to Wyoming and using the TT to haul her stuff. I have around 450 lbs in the bed of the truck and about 1100 lbs in the trailer. I weighed everything as I loaded it so I'm pretty close on weight.
Should I grab another link and try and throw some more weight on the steer axle?
I took it on the freeway up to about 72 mph and you sure could tell it was there compared to when it was empty. If I'm reading the numbers right I'm barely under my max. Actually 100 lbs over on the truck.Let me know what you think

What is the rear axle capacity that is on the drivers side door? That is one key number.
If the loaded weight on the rear axle exceeds that number then that is not good. If it is less than that number that is good.
I do see you have some accessories on the truck that will reduce the cargo capacity but the weight ticket from the CAT scale does not lie nor guess. That is good information to have.

So if I grab another link that should take some off the drive axle and put it on the steer axle, right?

And the trailer axles. How close are you on the trailer weight and/or tire rated load?
Edit: Looks like you’re over on that, too, as tongue weight is part of trailer GVWR.

Tires are rated for 2150 each. I can't really take anything out of the trailer. I'm pretty sure I have 1100 lbs in the trailer .
It's ccc is 1300 ( allegedly). GVW 6200
So it looks like I'm probably at least a few hundred over on the trailer and 100 over on the truck.

Your over on the rear axle and over on GVWR. Trailer is also near GVWR. You could move a couple hundred out of the bed an put it in the trailer to lighten the RA load. Do you know your trailer tongue weight? May need to shift some weight in the trailer.
Any way you shake it, you’re going to be near maximum on everything other than FA weight. What’s the rated towing capacity of the truck?
I’ve hauled 400 gallons of water in my 3/4-ton that puts it just over GVWR, but under both axle ratings. I wouldn’t want to haul it more than the six miles necessary to get it home. Couldn’t imagine driving across the country like that.

Yes, tightening up the WD hitch should take more weigh off the rear axle and put more on the front axle...but I do not know how much more weight is transferred.
Looks like you were 230lbs over initially. You tightened up the WD hitch. So say you are now 175lbs over. Still not good but better than before.
You have a new(ish) truck which is good. You are going to be pushing your truck but since it is new(ish) I think you will be mostly ok. You know it is all uphill to Wyoming which will tax your trucks rear axle...right?
I would think about changing the rear axle lube to synthetic but probably would say heck on it.
I would bet you will not have any problems because it is a new(ish) truck.

A crazy thought - is there anything your daughter can leave in Minnesota and pick up on another trip? Yikes it gets as cold in Wyoming as Minnesota I think. Never mind.

I'm going to move a few things and grab 1 more link. This is good reason to tell the wife we need a bigger truck for towing. Then I could get a newer TT. I've been eyeballing the new 6.6 Chevy gasser but they are so ugly I just don't know. The only decent looking one is a high country.

Remember - ugly is only skin deep. I do agree the Chevy is not that good looking but a GMC is much better looking.
I test drove a 2020 6.6 gasser GMC 2500HD. It drove very nice - I think you would really like it.
Oh, I checked the rear axle rating of the F-150. It is 4,050lbs.
I like the new Nissan Titan XD with all the towing stuff you need for a half ton truck. 4,900lb rear axle weight rating.
I bet the new GMC/Chevy 2500HD will have a rear axle weight rating of about 6,300lbs. or maybe a bit more.
