Considering purchase of Jayco JAY FLIGHT SLX 212QBW

Newbie here...
Having spent some time reading reviews and many horror stories, we are now narrowing down our list to a Jayco Jay Flight SLX 212QBW.
Jayco seems to be one of the few manufacturers who provide a 24 month warranty. The layout is pretty much what we are looking for - just me and the wife.
Weight seems to be within limits at 4140 lbs dry weight and 6000lbs gross and my vehicle is a Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel capable of pulling 7200 lbs.
Would not be putting much in the vehicle. I have 1050 lbs available payload. So me, wife and tongue weight would put it inside that total.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the Jayco - good bad or indifferent?

I love my Jayco Jay Feather. I've only had it for just over a month but so far so good. I looked and researched and lot. I narrowed it down to Jayco and Grand Design. If my truck could handle the weight, I would have gone with the Grand Design Imagine.

Was that 1050 payload on the sticker or after you weighed it?

Before selecting my Lance, Jayco was the other candidate. I really like their RVS. I don't think you will go much wrong and they do have a 2yr warranty.

don't forget a 100 lb hitch and a full tank of gas @6lbs per gallon, plus any extra gear in the truck and any aftermarket stuff.....

Considering purchase of Jayco JAY FLIGHT SLX 212QBW

I'm on my second year with our new SLX 264BHW...it's been nothing but awesome! Well built and best bang for your buck imo. Get a good WD hitch for your jeep and you should be fine just watch your payload. That diesel should pull it nice.

Some answers which I hope help.
The 1050 pounds is the sticker value posted on the door pillar of the Jeep GC which includes the Tow IV Package. There is no after market equipment installed in the vehicle.
For that reason, the sticker payload weight of 1050 lbs is quite a bit less than the handbook value which is 1270 pounds.

Gas is already included in the vehicle weight and therefore excluded from the 1050 lbs payload of driver, passenger, hitch ball and tongue weight plus any cargo (none).

I have determined vehicle payload will be approximately 975 lbs.
The trailer has a cargo carrying capacity of 1860 lbs with a GVWR of 6000 lbs (1200 lbs less than the tow vehicle capability).

I would be using a weight distributing hitch per Jeep GC handbook for anything over 5000lbs.

I think you would be near or over some of your ratings. What are your GVWR, GRAWR and GCWR numbers. That trailer if loaded to it's full GVWR of 6,000# would have a tongue weight of around 720# (12%). Tongue weight on a TT should be somewhere between 10 an 15% of the trailer weight.

advertised hitch weight of 415lb's This will probably turn into the 515 lbs plus the weight of the hitch. The best way to find out for sure is to actually weigh the hitch of the exact trailer you intend to drive off with, although never ever does because it's a small pain in the rump to do so. But this is one method that folks use.

Measuring trailer tongue weight with a bathroom scale

I think you'll be alright with a light load in both the trailer and the vehicle. Drive safe, and that diesel will probably not even react to a trailer being there. Get a good but light hitch, and rock on.

answers:

Sticker indicates:
GVWR of my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 is 6800 lbs
GVAWR - Front is 3200 lbs and Rear is 3700 lbs.

720 lbs for tongue weight is within Jeep GC documented range.
However, I would not plan to have trailer loaded with 1860 lbs of extras taking it to its maximum 6000 lbs.
