And yes, the gray tank smells far worse than the black. If one of your air admittance vents goes bad you will discover that quickly.

My black tank smells like death! At first I thought The roof vent was blocked so I ran a borescope down the pipe and no blockage (it was in storage for a while so I thought it might have been blocked by mud daubers) i leave my grey open and when I am going to dump the black I close the grey pour a couple cups of bleach down it then dump the Black, i wait about 30 minutes for the bleach to clean/kill the bacteria in the gray tank, then close the black and dump the grey to flush the line from any solids that didn't make it out from the black dump. It seems like a lot of work but I have a system I follow it's routine now, maybe the bleach isn't the best for the septic tank. But people wash clothes.and run all kinds of chemicals down drain.

I forget to add i fill the grey about half way while I wait the 30 minutes so there's something to flush the line when I close "black" then open "grey"

I also use the citrus scented stuff shown above, but I use the per-measured single dose bottles and I KNOW it within hours if I forget to add it to my black tank after dumping.
