Dump Valves

On our last trip I noticed our gray tank valve was leaking with a drip from the cap. Yesterday I started work to replace both dump valves . Found a pipe within a box and a handle on each side. Removed screws and caulk and box dropped down a couple inches. found cable operated valves. had to remove 2 aluminum sheets from underneath to even see the valves, they are 3' in and cable operated. 3" is near black tank and 1/2 is near gray tank. lines join and come out to the side. I plan to remove all the lines which are connected to tanks with a rubber bushing and hose clamps. If I remove the whole assy I can replace both valves, connect the cables to the box and reinstall as a unit. Any better Ideas??

That's a lot of work for a drip on the gray tank. I would put on one of those twist on valves at the outlet and just double valve it until the leak got a lot worse. Of course, I'm probably fundamentally lazy.

Agree with CecilD. Just put on the additional twist on valve. Why make it a hard repair when an easy one is available?

No matter what the problem is fix it. Most problems only get worse.

Many experienced trailerphiles put the extra valve on as standard procedure. They have it so they can use the gray tank water to back flush the black tank.

Got the valve installed and put a small screw in it and it will not move when removing cap
