Finding a bunkhouse

Hello all,
I’m new to looking at rv’s and have some questions. Me and my family have been looking at bunk house travel trailers 30ft dry weight of only 6110. My biggest worry’s are the gvwr of 7882. After adding the water tanks and propane tanks I only have 196 pounds left over. I can’t think of a time of all tanks being full but cargo amount is low. I tried looking at other brands and I can’t find one with a higher cargo rating would like 2500 pounds. My total loaded trailer weight goal is to be at or under 10000. Tow rig is a 2005 Chevy 2500hd duramax which if my math is right should put me at about 3000 less than gvwr.

Jon , that truck will have NO problems with a 10,000lb travel trailer. I think if you dig deep into your owners manual you will find that it tells you you can tow up to about 12,000lb travel trailer connected to the rear hitch with weight distribution style hitch. I have had duramax trucks since 2001 everyone of them has pulled over that weight very easy. Gross combine rating some around 21,000lbs total if I recall.

You are getting confused with gross combine weight and max trailer weight. you are correct your payload is around 2500 lbs . Payload is whats in the bed and cab. Typical large 30' travel trailer that weighs around 10,000lbs will put about 1200~1600lbs right on the back bumper.

typical bunk house would only have 50~60 gallons of fresh water at 8lbs a gallon with 130lbs of propane and one or 2 battery . You should have a little over 1000 lbs for camping gear/ food before the trailer is maxed out by my guess.

Instead of the Nash 24B, check out the Outdoors RV 23DBS. We were comparing the two and the 23DBS was just overall a nicer trailer. Only about 5k difference in price new and we felt it was worth it for the quality/convenience benefits of the 23DBS. Northwood and Outdoors are sister/cousin companies.
