First Time TT Buyer

My wife and I have decided to purchase a travel trailer for trips of 1 to 2 weeks. We are looking at the Grand Design Imagine models from 26' up to 34'. Tow vehicle is a Ford F-250. I'm wondering if there is any downside to pulling the longer models. I previously drove a 40' motorhome for years but I don't know if that experience relates to a TT. Any thoughts would be welcome. P.S. My wife likes the 34' model the best.

You should never showed your wife the 34' model. I bet she would like the 37' model even better. Just kidding - kinda.

My thought - if you have been driving a motorhome towing IMHO is better. The truck will be quiet.

The F-250 should pull that 34' travel trailer ok.

There is a little bit of a learning curve the first time you back it up and your trailer will track to the inside of a curve as you are pulling it.
So, swing a little wide in corners and watch the curbs. And practice your backing in an empty lot the first couple times. And you will get it quickly. Good Luck DR

Just my 2 cents...Depends on how you live and travel as to how long the RV is. If you are mostly staying in commercial RV parks, plan on spending a lot of time in the RV vs exploring, the longer TT may be the better. If you enjoy exploring, want to dry camp a lot, like state, Forest Service/BLM sites, etc. a shorter trailer not over 25' interior might be best. A shorter trailer is less stressful to drive and/or? IMHO. Cheers!...

If you're looking at new 2023 Imagines then you should know that the fridge is a 12V and will require a decent amount of solar and batteries to stay off grid for few days at a time.

W/E hookups would be ideal.

Here on the East Coast I noticed you're from Tennessee if you decide to stay around here on the east side of the Ohio or Mississippi I should say you would be better off with the shorter of the trailers a lot of the state and federal parks have very limited spacing for the larger trailers.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. We're still in the planning stages but hope to make a decision by the end of the year.

Yes, there are downsides to pulling longer models; everything is a trade-off, especially everything RV. Longer trailers have more sway due to increased windage and leverage and are harder to park/fit into spots, etc. ......It all really depends on your usage, experience and expectations.

My current trailer at 31'2" OAL is a bit longer than I'd like for my forestry/boondocking usage. Honestly, I'd go 5th wheel before I'd look at a trailer much longer than what I have though with an F250, you probably don't have the payload for that size of 5er.

Lastly; wives ALWAYS like the biggest model TT they see! I try to steer mine away from anything I don't want to tow!
