Water heater and microwave switch
Thank you everyone for all your help. I am stumped at the moment. On the wall to the left of my sink is the switch which i have figured out through searching is to light the washer heater with propane. To the right if my sink is a light switch which says microwave on top and water heater on bottom. Is this to run the water heater on electric? It's on a 120 breaker. If so can i run it on just electric?

Yes, that is a manual selector to allow for use of the water heater on electric, but prevents the microwave from being on also, they are on the same circuit. There are automatic load shedding switches that do this now days. Water heater gets power till the microwave kicks on, then the water heater is "shed" until a minute or so after the microwave quits.
Sliding glass door tells me that this is a park model and not made for traveling, good that you intend to use it for seasonal living.

Thank you for that info, it was driving me crazy and I couldnt find any info. So does flipping the switch to water heater automatically turn it on? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but im flying blind on a lot of this. Yes, I have learned through lots of searching that its a park model. It has no fresh water holding tank or grey water holding tank. Luckily it came with a rolling 32 gallon container to drain into then take it to dump station so should be sufficient for our needs.

If there is only a gas switch for the water heater, they most likely, selecting this powers the water heater, but there should be a control switch for the electric part of it, other than the micro/wtr htr selector.
Do you know what brand it is? Atwood would have another switch, a 12v circuit to control the 120v AC heat element. I am not familiar with Surburban water heaters but I seem to recall that their gas/elect combo heaters have the electric switch outside on the heater itself.
https://olivertraveltrailers.com/wp-...ter_Manual.pdf
Ignore the fact it is on the Oliver site, the Surburban heaters are the same, no matter whose trailer they are in.
Page 7, RH side just below the pic of the on/off switch, "To energize the electric heating element, turn the switch to “ON”. The switch is located behind the water heater door in the lower left corner of the control housing. The water temperature will be regulated by the thermostat."
If this is a Surburban, you will need to replace the Anode rod once a year in it, the manual shows how.
And yes, park models will not have any water or waste tanks in them, again they are not designed for traveling.

It is an Atwood heater. I'll look today for a switch on the heater itself.

Atwood heaters do not have a switch for the electric on the heater. The element is switched on and off by a 12v powered relay that is controlled by the circuit board and ultimately by a switch for the electric side of the water heater.
Look around, the gas switch may be in one place, and the switch for the electric may be 6 ft away. That is the way my 2008 Bigfoot was set up.

Atwood manual, check your model number to see exactly what you have.
The heat element and relay is on the INBOARD side of an Atwood, sometimes nearly inaccessible. It is not on the outside.
