Gas water heater switch blows fuse

We have a 2019 Forest River Flagstaff. It has both electric and gas water heater. We like to use the gas when setting up at new site to warm water up faster than just electric. Last trip out when I flipped the gas water heater switch it blew the 15 amp appliance fuse. Electric still works. Unplugged the water heater completely from camper and it still blows fuse when you flip the gas switch. It's under warranty but the nearest Forest River dealer/service is an hour away and they're backed up till sometime in march. Anybody had this problem and know where to start to isolate the problem myself?

Just a guess/you didn't post BRAND
You probably have a Suburban Water Heater

You have a direct short that is blowing that 15A fuse
Either in DC wire to the On/Off Switch
The On/Off Switch contacts

OR
Backside of Water Heater tank is a DC Junction Box
DC wire from On/Off Switch goes there and is wire nutted to water heater OEM wiring so could be a bad connection.

If NOT in the DC Junction Box then need to check the DC wire to the LP Set of t-stats
*Under the cover above gas valve...right set of t-stats/red wires.....sometimes the wire will rub against the sharp edge where opening is punched out for the t-stats.
