Generator grounding?

Just got a Champion 2500W dual fuel inverter generator. Runs great on power tools. Had over 30amps hooked up for almost 10-15 minutes doing a load test today before the breaker tripped. Tried hooking up to our Cougar 22RBS using our 30amp surge protector and it won't clear out. Says no ground. Manual for generator says it has a floating ground. Anybody have this issue? Thanks for the information in advance.

A bonding plug will fix that problem.
You can buy or make one.
YouTube Neutral Ground bonding plug.

Yep, that is normal. You need a generator bonding plug.
You may either buy one or make your own. Making your own is simple, just install a jumper wire inside the plug connecting the silver/ground and green/neutral screws. Then plug it into your genset receptacle.
When on shore power or a built-in generator this is automatic, but not for a stand-alone generator.

Oh that's great. Very easy fix. Will get one from Amazon. Thanks to you both.
