Grease landing gear?
Ok to grease the gear screws, or would that cause it to slip after they are down?

A gear screw shouldn't slip , but if it's exposed to road grime , the grease will collect the grime and that grime can wind into the threads and jam up the screw.
A shot of WD-40 before use on exposed threads.

WD40 will also attract lota of dirt ans road grime. Instead use silicone spray.

What I always liked on our boat trailer landing gear was motorcycle chain lube. Sprays on as a liquid, penetrates then sets up to a light grease consistency.
Didnt seem to attract much dirt and made a marked difference in the smoothness of the screw jack.
WD40 is utter garbage for a lubricant.

Makes sense, I have a lot of chain lube.

Yup chain lube or chain wax even better. Anything else seems to either attract grime or too much lube they do sometimes have a tendency to back off, from what I’ve experienced on mine anyways.

Use TriFlow. WD40 is not a lubricant. Lots of people think it is but its a cleaner. Do the research.
