Grease splatter

I've got grease on my wheel that is coming out of the EZ lube cap. I've changed the cap. I'll admit that I might have out too much grease in there but why is it coming out? I can silicon the cap in but that seems unnecessary.

You may have a bad bearing causing the grease to overheat and turn to liquid.

Get the wheel off the ground and see if it has play in it and turns smooth.

EZ Lube----too much grease---splatter

Time to remove wheel
Disassemble hub
Clean up, check bearings, Closely inspect brakes
Replace bad parts (seals/bearings/brake shoes as needed)
Hand repack bearings/reassemble/adjust brakes
And =====stop using those dang EZ / pumping grease in

**EZ are nice for boat trailers/wet

If you have put too much grease in EZ Lube axles... there is a decent chance you have also blown out the inner/back grease seal.

Ez-Lube grease procedure

I have Dexter axle ez-lube. Pump grease into zerk in the middle. Exiting grease returns around the rim.

Exiting grease should be removed from the cup as much as possible. I use a flat bladed screw driver to dig out the exiting grease. (The cup edge is sharp, so using a finger is a problem.)

Excess grease in the cup may get forced out passed the cap. High temperature can certainly do that.
