HELP!

Here's a quick run down of our 2021 Forest River Cherokee 294GEBGBL. We purchased it last fall. It had been in our driveway until last week when I moved it up to our seasonal site in Minnesota. The campground wasn't officially open until today so we weren't allowed to do much more than park it last weekend.

When I arrived and got situated. It was time to De-winterize. I attached the hose, to and from the camper and spigot. I turned the water on and went inside. After the air had bled through the lines and water was finally flowing, it wasn't winterized. I didn't see any foamy stuff, pink or otherwise, coming from the bathroom water spout.

When I checked the kitchen sink faucet, same thing. No pink or otherwise, foamy liquid. I noticed that water was leaking from the handle itself. Almost at the base of the faucet.

Next was the toilet and here's where the issue got ugly. I flushed it and once again no sign of winterization. The base of the toilet started spewing water everywhere. Thankfully it's all clean water because our camper is brand new.

But now, obviously I'm concerned! I'm wondering if the dealer didn't winterize it properly? I'm planning on calling the dealer to inquire about this. Anybody have any ideas on what might have caused these things to leak in the manner they did?

Did you use a pressure reducer from the city water into your coach?

This is just a guess that the new trailer never had water in the lines so no need to use the pink anti freeze.

You should have seen lots of pink and foam at 1st and after 30 seconds then clearer water.

If you don't have any damage (water leaks) I bet that is why.

I hope you have the receipt for the winterization.
Looks like it wasn’t winterized or it was just blown out.
Blowing out the lines and adding pink to the p-traps (all the drains) is common.
But in Minnesota, I would think they would use the pink stuff since it gets so cold there.
It’s the dealer that would be responsible for damage if any.

Here is a tip, learn to winterize it yourself, it’s easy and cheap.
Then you know it was done correctly.
I had my private RV tech teach me back in 2004.

Ice makers are easy, washers are easy, dishwashers are easy too.they all have instructions in the manual.
I copy the appliance instructions and laminate it, keep near the appliance.

FYI, keep every receipt even if it’s for something little.
Get a nice big folder for all receipts

The question is, where did the water come from? If no water is there except when you are flushing then the problem is not in your fresh water system but from the toilet bowl or the sewer side. It may be that the bowl is cracked? Or the toilet was not properly installed? Like others here, I suspect that your RV was not winterized because it had never had any water in it. The factory doesn't put water into new units as they leave the assembly line so unless the dealer did so, you are the first to put any water through it and the same is true of testing the toilet.

This^^.

The kitchen faucet sounds like a bad O-ring, loose assembly, or simply a cheap faucet. The toilet issue is something to check out and, again, is not from the pressurized water system unless the water is coming from the flush valve at the base of the toilet. It was not clear from you post.

You said you purchased it last fall, just thinking if you did not tell the dealer to make sure it was winterized, they may not done it. You may have picked it up before they had time to winterize all on their lot. I have seen in Ohio the dealers wait until the last possible moment to do the winterizing on their lots, in case they sell it. They sell it, and the new owners want it winterized they can charge for it, were if sitting on their lot it comes out of their pocket.

The toilet issue, it could be the water valve freezing and breaking. If it is not a hard replacement job.

Air in lines may be due to cracked valves and fitting. Water would have run out through the cracks.

I would think that they do put water in at the factory - how else do they check for leaks? Unless they have no QC on their units. I know when I bought mine it came with a checklist from the factory and it included filling the fresh tank and confirming all taps functioned and did not leak

Agreed. They should have tested the systems and then it should have been winterized. Definitely sounds like it wasn't winterized.

Check for leaks? My brand new (at the time) MH leaked at the pump and at a Tee under the sink the first time I hooked up to city water. Later, when I went to fill the fresh water tank, it leaked where the fill pipe entered the tank. Also, I could not drain black water or grey water tanks because one of the highly qualified employees had installed the sewer hose hookup about 2 inches away from the opening where the plastic sewer hose enters the compartment when it is time to drain. Not only that, the sewer pipe cap was tight against the floor of the compartment, making it impossible to get off. The dealer's reaction: "I don't know how that could have happened, but we'll fix everything." The caveat was that they couldn't get to it until sometime next week. I fixed everything myself at a campground the next day. I wrote a complaint letter to the manufacturer with a copy going to the dealer. Of course, I never heard back from either one.
