How about this for 2 couples touring Alaska

Priority- Both couples need to be comfortable at all times, driving and sleeping.

Tow Vehicle- A heavy duty VAN with good captains chairs up front and two large recliners amidships. Next to each recliner would be the largest side windows to be found for unobstructed views out the sides. Built-in intercom system so conversation could be had without shouting front to rear. Full A/C and heat of course.

Trailer- Probably 25' min to accept bedrooms fore and aft (queen beds, NS orientated, walk around) with a slider door for each to separate from the bath/toilet facilities and small kitchen area in middle of TT. Knowing full well the setup may/must be custom built or gut and rebuild from normal TT

Might be an interesting project.
How about ideas?

Knew a couple that dumped the pick-up in favor of a 1 ton US Mfg. Van for their TT when they started taking their parents along. Van had 4 captains Chairs and a folding bench/bunk in the rear...and any pedestal chair can go in the back of a van

The down sides were that the engine of the van was "detuned" vs. the exact same motor in the pick-up (lowered the HP rating, not sure why) - and 5th wheel RV's are off the table with a van.

It was a very good set-up for them.

Large panel windows can be added mid-ship on the drivers side of a van, but the passenger side is where the mid-door opens, so usually limited to factory size.

Best luck

I've always told DW that when our ship comes in, I'm getting one of these
2006 Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 Dually Austin, Texas | Bentley Austin. Better be soon though as my dock is rotting.
