Last winter a neighbor and about 20 others stored their trailers in a locked storage facility with lights and cameras. Later on everyone got to watch a video of a couple guys break into each one of them.

This is what I have:

https://www.provenlocks.com/

They also have door locks.

I thought the same thing about my trailer - what would stop someone from just hitching up and rolling away? What I liked about this hitch lock was that you can't just use bolt cutters or cheat your way to steal the trailer. It would take a lot of work to steal a trailer with one of these on there!

Insure it. If they want it they will get it. You are snowboarding so you aren't home. They could just as easily move in to your house. Insure and document valuables.

Or take it to a secure facility and let them be responsible for the insurance.

Check out spytech.com They make a small inexpensive GPS that will tell you where the trailer is located. I bought one and tested it in both of our cars. Impressive results!

Thieves are not interested in the trailer, they only want what few sell-able valuables are in it such as TVs, jewelry, cameras etc. The most common thing stolen from trailers is the battery.

Remove everything from the trailer including the battery and electronics and don't lock the door. That way you will not have to repair the door and sidewall of the trailer when they use a crowbar to get in.

Purchase really good insurance, institute as many of the suggestions you received here and go out of town without worry. It's only a trailer.

I left a 42 foot XLR Toyhauler at home while wintering in FL in another 5th wheel. We chained the wheels, king-pin locked, spotlites on it and a game-cam aimed at it in an aluminum barn.

No internet available.

Installed a jostle-trigger motion detector connected wirelessly to house ADT.

Four days into my 3-1/2 month outing it goes off at 0530 Saturday. Armed neighbors checked as did deputy. Can find nothing.

Maybe someone climbed the stairs to the door as that's all it would take for the jostle detector. Loud siren may have caused perps to scatter to think more about it.

If they want it...it's gonna go away.

Armed and anxious neighbors is the best defense.
