How long have you owned your TT or 5er
After watching a video posted where the guy says TT are not for long term ownership because of quality. I am now wondering if a TT or 5ers is something I want to own.
Please share
1. How long have you owned your TT/5er
2. How old is you TT/5er
3. How well did your TT/5er hold up
4. Would you buy the same or different knowing what you know now.
5.What did you like best
6. What you hated the most
I know that is a lot. Had a Newmar. Quality was/is superb. With the virus going on and a death in the family our beloved rv was just sitting. Worst thing for an rv so we sold. Would buy it again, but it is a bit long. We want to down size and what we have looked at so far does not compare to the quality of a Newmar. Thanks for sharing

Our first travel trailer was a Gulfstream. It was 20 years old when we gave it to a homeless guy. For us it’s useful life was over but for him it was better than what he had.
We bought our Coachman Catalina new in 2013.
It has been trouble free from day one.
That’s all I’ve got.

Our current RV is a 2013 (manufactured Nov 2012) NuWa HitchHiker Champagne 30 RLRSB. Been on the road full time 7 years now and very few issues.
Problem is they are no longer manufactured.
Probably the best built trailer we had was a 1989 Avion (silver), 3 axle aluminum trailer. It was built like a tank. Again, no longer built.

My opinion is that trailer longevity has more to do with maintenance upkeep and PM than anything else. I do question whether some of the current crop of "ultralights" will withstand the test of time and the poor condition of our highways. The lighter weights would seem to impact the component quality.

I think it also makes a difference if you are a weekend warrior and mainly camp local or are you traveling.
Our last TT was 12 years old and everything still worked when we sold it. It was a Jayco and had very few problems going up and down the east coast multiple times.
Our Grand Design is 4 years old and no major issues. 5 seasons and thounds of miles. Looking forward to a long life.
Agree with others that maintenance and care are key to long life.

In Sept 2006 ordered our 5th wheel ----NUWA 32.5 UTG for our upcoming FT in April 2007
FTd for 7 yrs and it was/still is a good 5vr
Yep...still have it
Next trailer will be a small rig better suited for short camping trips off the beaten path
Maybe an Artic Fox, Northwoods ---something along those lines

We are a year in on our Winnie drop tt.
It’s a 2018 so 2 1/2 years on it
I’m overall pretty happy with it. We looked at a few different brands and this one was bounds above the other brands in terms of components and fitment.
Biggest downfall for me is there is no built in inverter, the wife would say the wet bath. It’s a smaller (20ft) unit and met all our criteria.
I love how versatile it is hands down. It fits everywhere and coming from years of tent camping it’s more than nice enough without being worried about getting it dirty as we are still camping.
Next one will be a Winnie or more likely grand design 5er.

We got our NUWA Champagne 35CKQG in 2010 from a consignment lot in Texas. It was 2 years old and we have been FT in it for 11 years now. Very few problems and it would have been less if the original owners had done some maintenance.
I am of the opinion that lots of problems are of the owners own making because of lack of maintenance. I lube the 5er suspension 2 - 3 times a year. It has wet bolts and that helps the life span. I clean the roof (alright have cleaned) a couple times a year and I inspect all the roof sealant at least once a year. Keep the water outside and you will be much happier inside.

Basic TT’s and 5ers, are not insulated like your Newmar. For starters they don’t use any vapor barrier like Class A’s, so moisture can play it’s toll from the inside out. That’s why none of them are designed for full time use like your Newmar was.

This X2. Sold the 2001 Keystone Sprinter this spring - owned from new, towed about 8,000 miles per year. Kept it washed, waxed, and in garage when at home. Depreciation over the 20 years of ownership was 50%. Preventative Maintenance is the key for longevity.
