I have a huge problem and have no clue as to how to fix it.

I own a 2003 Keystone Cougar travel trailer, I'm having an issue filling trailer off of a well and I just replace the inlet piece .

Where the trouble is I have a pressure regulator connected to the house. For some reason the water is filling up my freshwater tank and then back flowing out of it .

I can't not afford to have a mobile mechanic come out here to figure out why I'm having this trouble. I live on a limited income and it's very difficult to get any help. I'm wondering if the trouble stems at the house and things with the check valve on their connection.

Anybody can help me figure it out I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

Welcome to the forum. I am not familiar with a Keystone, and not totally clear on all you said, but do understand that your shore water line is filling & overflowing the fresh water tank on the Keystone.

Some rigs have one connection to fill the tank, and another connection to run the rig on shore water (not using the on board tank & water pump). So first, be sure you have the shore water hose connected to the correct input port.

Some rigs have a valve you have to turn by hand to choose between filling the fresh water tank or using the shore water in the rig's water system. If that valve is left in the tank fill position, what you describe will happen. And normally, if you turn on the on board water pump when the valve is in the tank fill position, it will not automatically turn off ...it will continue to run while pumping very little if any water from the inside faucets ...because it cannot pressurize the water system. IF you have a valve like this, and IF it is in the correct position and you still have the problem, the valve could be bad.

If you are connected to the hose inlet on the trailer and the water is filling the fresh water tank and running out the fresh water tank fill on the TT then the check valve on the 12 pump for the fresh water tank is bad.

I don't know if your TT has this kind of setup but it is the basic why they work.

UPDATE: just found your manual on line, you have a separate cap to fill the fresh water tank that is an 1" 1/2 flex hose. it is a screw on cap. If this is the location your water is running out of and you are connected to the hose fitting, then the above statement will be your problem.

Hi Julie

You should have a check valve on your water intake. If they go bad you will get back flow. They are not that hard to replace.

Your check value is no good the piece in the picture very easy fix its right off the water pump it's no good so it's letting water past it into your tank if you don't see it then it's built into your water pump but I don't think they did that in 2003
