In the market for New Travel Trailer
Hello RVer's, we are currently about to hit the market for a new travel trailer. We currently have a 2010 Keystone Cougar 26 footer and getting it ready to sell and upgrade. I was wanting to see what you all thought what brand/model to get and or have had good or bad experience with? Towing is not a issue since the tow vehicle is a 2020 1-ton diesel. We are in the market for a 29ft-34ft,(Bunkhouse/Outside Kitchen) model and proce range from $25k-35kish. I did find out from a friend that here in Washington State and even browsing for even used trailers is super expensive here on the West Coast. He drove to Wisconsin to pick up a new one and saved him a 1/3 of the cost. Thanks for you help!

We have a Forest River 263BHXL. Just under 32 foot, bunkhouse, u-shaped dinette and a small couch. Separate queen size bedroom. One slide for couch/dinette table.
Outside kitchen is limited, just a grill and a dorm style fridge. There is a hose hookup, but not a sink to wash hands.
There is a lot of internal storage room under the couch and the dinette. Decent pantry. Little bit of storage under the foot of queen bed, plus a pass through underneath for outside storage.
Two doors, one into main cabin, one into the rear bathroom. Can clean up the dogs or kids before they enter the main cabin, don't have to go through cabin for guests to use restroom.
Quality of workmanship is average at best I would say.
Not necessarily trying to sell you on this unit as much as give you some ideas of things to consider, good and bad.
Have seen other units with a similar floor pan, but always less internal storage.
I am towing this with a 1/2 ton gasser, you will hardly know it is there.

If it where my choice , I would find a 2019 model (pre-Covid) . The units rolling off the lines now are being built as FAST as possible!

The slightly (used) ones have had time for the first owners to fix all the little things that have already gone wrong. With a few exceptions these things are pretty much just slapped together even in the best of times.

Take a good look at both Arctic Fox and Outdoors RV ORV has a 23DBS that offers both bunks and an outdoor kitchen. Not sure about AF/Nash - I know that Nash has a bunkbed model, not sure if it has an outdoor kitchen or not. Any RV is going to be a crap shoot to find on the lot. Most ORV and AF dealers have pre sold the majority of their orders.

Just ordered a 23 DBS from Outdoors RV. Was only able to negotiate 10% off MSRP based on current market. The other dealers pretty much scoffed at the idea of any discount due to inventory challenges. Apache Camping had 7 units on order and could get us one mid-September. The other one we looked at from them was the Nash bunkhouse model. It was a little bit more affordable and might hit that price range for you. From my research (I'm new to this), it seemed like a decent build quality compared to a lot of what is on the market.
Hope that helps!

Something you might check on---there are west coast and east coast trailers in some companies.
East coast units might not have the larger tanks we can use in the west. Also, construction might be "less" due to the lack of severe camping available in the east.
About 2/3 of our population live east of the Mississippi, thus more dirt roads to play on in the west. If you live in the west, shop the western models. Also, by the time you pay to transport long distances', the price difference might not be all that better.
One more thought; our current trailer has dual pane windows--the bomb!

Thanks for all the replies. We were looking very hard at the Rockwood 2706ws, The Heartland Sundance bunk model looked nice. We planned on driving to Ohio to snag a 2022 Rockwood or Flagstaff (Prices way cheaper there) than in the Pacific Northwest. We settled on a 2021 Grand Design 2800BH and picking it up tomorrow. It was tough shopping around, prices are through the roof right now. The one we are getting was the only one left in the geographical area unless you wanted to buy a 2022 for $54,000! Nope!
