Climbing straight up my factory trailer ladder is dicey at best. I don't do it unless I have to. I make sure my wife is aware that I am going up there too.

Take the advice of the experience on this forum, no ladder then typically the roof isn't built to walk on! You can walk on it but it isn't built to support it, so certainly would be very careful.

Listen to Keystone - no backing - no ladder. My son has an RV repair shop and I've found it amazing the number of RVs where the back wall is not much more than cardboard.

This is the ladder you want - https://www.amazon.com/GP-Logistics-...5650919&sr=8-1. Anything bigger than 7' could be wider than your rig.

The fence post - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Veranda-...0700/202084745

And don't forget caps for the tube. Don't rely of friction alone to keep the caps in place. A couple of 1/2" SS sheet metal screw in each cap will keep it in place.

Another option is PVC sewer pipe with lockable end caps. Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/Carry-Power-7.../dp/B00B2HP1A4.

Which ever you go with bolt/attach the tube/pipe to the underside, or other convenient place of the rig. Same idea of storing you sewer hose in the rear bumper.

Thanks for the breakdown guys ^^^. I understand now. I thought you were talking about permanently mounting the ladder some how.

Ive decided to listen to the manuf. and leave it alone. I'll save the roof top inspection and cleaning for home and use my extension ladder and spare plywood.
