Rude, no. A bad idea, yes.
Really a minor issue either way.

So how much noise can an impact wrench make turning a jackscrew? How long will a whiny little drill driver make noise?

I don't use a drill or impact driver - only takes 15 seconds or so per corner to lower my jacks by hand, and I figure the exercise will do me good. But I would rather hear a few seconds of impact driver than someone using a leaf blower for 10-15 minutes any day!

The issue with a cordless drill is the person is more likely to hurt themselves if a high-torque situation occurs in a hurry. Ask me how I know :(

For years we used a cordless drill. What a diffrence. The drill came in handy several times when repairs required a drill.

I bought a $30 cordless drill just for this job and doing anything to the camper that I might need it for. It is quiet and is only strong enough to put just a little load on the jacks.
Although I can see the value of having an impact if you need to change a tire or something, I don't think that is the right tool for the job on the stabilizers.

No dog in this fight but I'm thinking if you need an impact gun to lower stabilizers you need to do a little maintenance. Like, lube the stabilizers!

Isn't that what the adjustable clutch is for?
I too think an impact wrench in a CG is rude and inconsiderate. There's that me generation thing again.

I use a drill on my stab jacks. I am a bit concerned when I'm right next to another camper when the clutch kicks in and the drill buzzes. So I make it as brief as I can. When we plan to leave early, I raise the jacks and hitch up the night before so I can make as little noise as possible and let others sleep.

The use of an impact wrench occurs more frequently than I thought would. Then again it's not my equipment. If I had to really torque it, a quick twist with the appropriate wrench is in order.

Whatever you gotta do to get situated and out is ok, use an impact wrench at 8 am next to my rig and we get to have a chat.

Why not just use a cordless drill which is less noisy than an impact gun?
