My wife and I have awakened before sunrise by someone using an impact driver to raise their stabilizers. I consider that rude.

How many hours are you hearing this? Personally, a few seconds of an impact wrench is meaningless compared to the 24/7 random yapping of somebody's "fur babies".

If you're in a campground, generally you're living unnaturally close to strangers. Simple problem to solve.

If you use an impact driver to raise / lower stabilizers and it is making the impact sound throughout the entire length of travel you need to service your stabilizers. The only time it should switch to impact mode is when they touch the ground or hit the stop when retracted.

08:00 - 20:00 seems reasonable as far as being polite to the neighbors. I seem to hear more noise from people with yappy little dogs and morons with loud vehicles than I hear from stabilizer exercises.

Since I get up before the sun and don't usually go to bed until midnight my perception of when "noise" is offensive is different than others.

I'd sooner hear a few seconds of an impact wrench any day or time over the clown who starts his deleated diesel truck with no muffler and lets it run for fifteen minutes before pulling out of the campground in first gear and being on and off the loud pedal. The sound echos nicely off the side of campers.
The same goes for the air bag equipped diesel pushers. Fire it up, let it run until after breakfast then pull away. Quieter than the truck but equally as aggravating.

My guess, those that use them say not rude, those of us who don't but listen them say yes. Personally, its a little loud, but if its not during quiet hours it bearable. I thought cordless impacts were for driving long lag screws into 4x4 posts.

One minute of impact noise or 3 hours of a enthusiastic football fan watching a late nigh game on his outside tv.

Personally I would prefer to not hear impact wrenches, generators, or any other loud noises in the CG, so I try to avoid making loud noises myself. That is just me. Some people do make noise, and I accept that, but I choose not to contribute noise of my own. So if it were me, I'd choose a drill over an impact for that job. YMMV.

I agree. On our most recent trip, our dog decided she wanted to bark at something, this is the first time she's done that at a campsite since we've had her. I was immediately embarrassed and took her inside for a little bit until whatever it was no longer interested her.

I’ll go with rude and unnecessary. Use a cordless drill. They are stabilizers, not levellers.

Not rude, but wrong. At least at those times.
I am a right tool for the job kinda guy. Lotsa people use pliers on nuts and bolts, screwdrivers as pry bars, ratchets as hammers, etc.
I am also in the be respectful camp. No loud unnecessary noise.
Noisy kids are fine. Means they’re running around outside, having fun.

Definitely agree! In today's world, it's good to see kids having fun enjoying the great outdoors. An impact isn't the right tool for this job but at least its noise is gone within a minute or two.

My rule is be polite as you just never know what another person will do to stop you from using an impact drill. So remember be polite.
