Kitchen tap questions

Recently moved my fresh water tank as part of on going renovations. When I turned on the pump to test it blew my tap right off the sink. Obviously there must have been an air lock somewhere but how could there be sufficient pressure to blow the fixture ? Have to get new tap and would appreciate any advise on installation. Sounds like a problem with the old faucet (tap?).
The pump shouldn't create enough pressure, unless there is something wrong with the pressure sensor that turns the pump on/off.
You can use a residential faucet from Home Depot.

Air lock or not the max pump pressure is around 45-50 PSI.

Faulty faucet for sure.
