We use a 20 foot long 14 foot wide Aluminet 70 shade fabric on the side opposite the door. We park the trailer with the Aluminet facing the south and this allows us to enjoy the awning on the north side. Keeping the side walls in the shade does help reduce the heat load.

I have 1405 watts of solar on the roof and used 3 inch or higher brackets to allow for more air flow between the panels and the roof. I was able to replace my 13500 air conditioner that pulled about 15+ amp with a 11000 PS (power saver) version that pulls 9.3 amp instead. This allows the solar to run on the inverter/solar without a generator.

I agree that that mold can be an issue depending on the environment where the trailer is used. Fortunately the Great Basin is extremely dry and we don't have problems with humidity.

I own a Lance 2375 with the 15k AC option. Yes it is loud especially compared to the better ducted units. Yes, if the trailer starts hot it will take time to bring the temp down. The unit will however keep a cooled trailer comfortable in 90+ degree outside temps. The front bedroom gets adequate air as well and you always have the fantastic fan over the bed which if set to exhaust will pull more cool air in from the LR.

I have a Lance 2465 with dual 13.5 kbtu a/c's. This past summer in Georgia, I found that I could get by with only running one of the a/c's and using a fan to blow air into the other room. So at night I would run the a/c in the living room and during the day when I spent most of the time in the living room, I would run the a/c in the bedroom. That way, the noise is not so noticeable. Would keep the trailer at ~75 degrees on even the warmest days!
