List of Items Needed for Camping?

When I sold my 41' DP everything that I accumulated over the years went with it. I am working up what I need to start all over again, but with a travel trailer instead.

Are there any detailed lists for what I need or may want? I don't want to go on our first trip and find out I forgot something.

Not sure where you need to start, but I always suggest a short trip to a park close by with a Walmart in easy driving distance for a shake down cruise.

Some broad topics:

Hookup items like water, sewer, electrical, chocks, pads for leveling
- Include pressure reducer, surge protector, etc.
Propane
Dishes (paper, plastic, disposable or washable)
silverware
cups
cooking items: Pots, pans, serving utensils,
Measuring cups
paper towels
Cleaning supplies, garbage bags
towels, sheets, pillows
tools (too many threads on this already)
Toilet paper (deserves a separate mention)
Deodorizer for waste tanks
Winterizing fluids
Groceries
Pet items, if traveling with a pet
games, etc. for those days you are stuck indoors in the rain.

For starters:
Wheel chocks
Leveling boards
Good quality sewer hose
Clear 45 degree sewer elbow
disposable gloves
Water hose
Water pressure regulator
EMS
Possibly an extension cord 30 or 50 Amp depending on your camper
Extra fuses
Basic tools
Voltage tester
Hitch lock for use at the campground
Black tank chemicals

others will chime in with their recommendations too.

Much depends on what type camping your gonna' do.
Some folks just socialize...
some folks are hikers...
some folks use a fishin' boat...
or ski boat...
lots of other type camping.

The trailer will need special attention different than a MH.
Lots of input on a google or youtube channels for different ideas.

ASk questions....but as you know don't ask which is best

In the past I had a lot of stuff than I never used when I unloaded the DP.

Right now I have the following items listed for the outside stuff. My wife will take care of the inside stuff. I still have our chairs. I also already have a four way lug wrench and a torque wrench. Our first trip will be to a campground just a few hours away.

1) Drinking water and black water hoses
2) Water pressure regulator and "Y" connector
3) Water filter
4) 50 Amp surge protector, plus 50 to 30 and 30 to 15 dog bones
5) Sewer hoses with clear 90 degree turn plus a hose cradle
6) Stationary jack pads and wheel chocks
7) Stick on levels for leveling the trailer
8) Levelers plus some pieces of cedar fencing. I used this in the past for small leveling jobs.
9) TPMS
10) Folding tables

I assume you know what you had in your prior RV that you used regularly and would still need, and that your question pertains to what you might need with a travel trailer that you didn't need with your DP.

Some thoughts come to mind:
* If your stabilizers are not electric, an electric drill to bring them up and down.

* Since you'll probably need to manually level your TT, my absolutely favorite accessory is the Levelmate pro.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

* My second most favorite accessory is the monitors I purchased to monitor the level of propane in my tanks.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

*I'm guessing most TT's don't come with a TPMS. I'm happy with this one:
(for a single axle TT. You may have a double and need 4 sensors)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...e?ie=UTF8&th=1

* And lastly - a sort of silly, but useful gadget to help you back up and hook up with your TT, especially if doing it solo and you don't have a backup camera, or can't see your hitch clearly through your camera:

These items can vary greatly depending on how you live and use your RV. Also remember that everything you have comes with a $ cost, but more importantly a space and weight cost.

I see several things on the list so far that I do not have, have no intention of getting and are absolutely not a need for how I travel. The items on the list are obviously a need for their use.

I am another that promotes driveway or close to home/close to store shake downs.

Last year was our 4th year with our current RV. We get lots of snow so we store it off site under cover for the winter. A couple of days before we took off we hauled all of our boxes, bin, etc out of the garage and made sure we had everything. No chance for a shake down since the high temps were in the 20°'s. This worked great until after our first week (1500 miles away from home) and went to dump and the "sewer box" was nowhere to be found. The person who pulled in behind us let us use their dump hose. Luckily we had other family coming to join us a week later so they brought that box and we did not have to buy a new one.

Being this is winter I most likely will not do an immediate shakedown. After the PDI is done the dealer will winterize the trailer again. I will bring it home to load some of the stuff and check it out more, but I will not use the water. Once it warms up out of sub freezing temperatures we will take a shakedown trip. There is a campground about five miles away.
