Rick Baker's RV

Hi Podvin,

I went back to Rick Baker's after speaking with my husband and we bought the Sunset Trail. As it turns out, we can tow the Sunset Trail and we bought it! 2017 Sunset Trail SS222rb. We haven't picked it up yet. We can't wait to go camping. They are very nice folks there. I've called them several times and they are always so cheerful when answering my questions. Pretty amazing.

Now the issue is the trailer break controller. I bought a Dodge Factory controller, (my husband wanted a factory controller) easy to install, but the Dodge dealership wants $140 bucks to run the software! Unfortunately, I lost it a bit with them. I have contacted 5 Dodge dealerships, it seems they are all too busy to answer the phone. We were supposed to pick up the trailer on Friday, but now, who knows when we will be able to pick it up.

I've read on a few Dodge sites that the WiTech software only makes the device show up on the EVIC screen and that the dealership flashing the device has nothing to do with its functionality. Does anyone know if this is true? I've already returned the device. The dealership said they won't install it, the device has to be from them.

I just added an aftermarket brake controller for now. Daytona Dodge wanted around $500 to install the factory one.

I'm glad you were able to make a deal at RB's, I've been happy with the service there. I've called a few times after the sale and got the same response you're getting now, someone who always sounds cheerful and willing to help. For all I know they call me all kinds of names after we hang up, but I'm OK with that.

I wish I could help you with the brake controller, but mine is a class A and I've got basically zero knowledge about towing setups. Though my GUESS would be that the service department at RB's could install it for you - have you checked with them?

When you and hubby get ready to show off your new RV let me know! I'm not sure if this is your first RV or not, but if you'd like someone to walk through it with you and point out 'stuff' I'd be happy to do so. I live in south Jax, so not all that far from Middleburg. Feel free to send me a private message me here any time.

The most reputable dealer in northern Florida is probably just north of the border.
Everyone is looking for him. Let us know when you find him.

Hi Podvin,

We found a Dodge Dealer in Starke that was awesome from start to finish, let us use the part we had purchased online (they installed it for us and ran the software for $120, I was impressed with the customer service, speed and additional information on using the brake controller and how it works. So . . . we picked up the trailer on Friday and went camping on Monday in White Springs. Backing it in was quite comical for the adjacent campers, so we have a bit to learn about backing, but the trip was awesome and the morning views fantastic!

Hi 09 Harley,

For us it was Rick Baker in Green Cove Springs, Fl. We went to many dealerships, looked at many different trailer manufacturers and did a lot of research. It doesn't matter how many times I call them back, they are happy to help.
