Lowes Fittings

I had a problem with a broke valve on my water heater bypass this spring that I discovered when I was getting the TT ready for camping. As a fix I decided that I wouldn't use PEX fittings due to the confined space and cost of the fittings. So I went to Lowes and bought some compression fittings and replaced all the valves. Bad idea! It leaked like a $10 tire. I thought and decided I could deal without the bypass for now which would eliminate a lot of the fittings. Well....it worked! First trip out and thus far dry as a desert brush.

They look like "Shark Bite" fittings.

I guess I assumed the Shark Bites were the second attempt, not the first since the first ones leaked?

I almost always use Flair It fittings, when I don't crimp.

Blue Hawk

I should have mentioned what fittings I used from Lowes. They're Blue Hawk fittings. I'm really not sure if they're made like Shark fittings since I've never used those but we've travelled more down the road now and thus far....no leaks!

Here's a link to them....

Those are Shark Bite style fittings, just Lowe's brand.

Based on what I can see on the internet about Shark Bite fittings, I think they're pretty much the same thing. Actually I didn't try any 'first' fittings since they original were factory PEX bands and I couldn't get a tool in the space to get new ones installed. ....that's the reason I tried the Blue Hawk fittings. I'd use them again but I wouldn't use them in large numbers.
