The burner has gas supply because I can get it lit when the unit is turned to gas, but it doesn't stay lit. We will be travelling several hours and I would like to keep the unit on LP while travelling. I assume that if I push the button on the control panel (in) that it should be in the LP position. How long should it take before it kicks in? How do I determine if it is working properly besides the obvious?

I was having issues with mine a couple weeks ago. It would light on propane but the fridge would not get very cold.
I ended up removing the burner and cleaning it along with the thermocouple. The thermocouple is the little tube that is just above the burner. It sits in the flame from the burner.
I took some steel wool and cleaned the crud off it. I also blew out dust from inside the burner and and blew out the inside of the chimney thing above the burner using a air compressor.
The combo of all those things got my fridge working properly again.
There is a way to test the thermocouple but I do not know how. You could try replacing it. I have been told they are under 10 bucks.
Hope that helps.
