Lube for stabilizer jacks?

I am concerned about the threaded rod portion of the stabilizer jacks. Here on the Gulf coast, leaving anything metal unprotected is not an option. Grease or oil attracts dirt and road grime like a magnet. WD-40 is OK for cleaning, but provides no protection. I have been using silicone spray on them every couple of months and that seems to keep them reasonably clean and rust free. I was just wondering if anyone has a better solution?

I use dry Molybdenum spray to lubricate anything outside the RV, except where I do not want it black, which is its color. It applies wet, the carrier dries, leaving the Molybdenum coating. Thanks for the reminder, I've got to re-apply it to my stabilizers and stuff. I imagine it has worn off after spending the winter in Ft. Myers Beach.

Thanks Ray. That sounds like something I need to check into. Where do you find it?

Most any hardware store, some big-box stores, RV accessories stores, etc., will sell it by different names. Just remember the label will say it dries to a lubricating film and leaves no oil to attract dirt.

Thanks again. I've got to go to the RV parts house this week to pick up a new water pump, so will look for it then.

I have found motorcycle chain lube to be great for this application. Get it at any motorcycle shop.
