I was at a dog show and a guy had a 7KW Honda Gen mounted on a platform that was made for the tongue. All bolt on and was over the propane tanks. A clean unit made to adjust to any TT tongue. Rated for 350 pounds as I recall. I failed to get any other info or picks, but they are out there.

The rack is designed to be used for anything. I agree, not sure it would be the best place for the gen as a fire could be a real problem there. But many places require that the exhaust be routed above the RV roof.
Probably be OK but will eat into your trailers cargo capacity pretty good and increase tongue weight a bunch as well. For someone who attends a lot of shows where there is limited or no hookups available it would be a plus but the average camper would not benefit much from it.
