murphy bed falling during transport

just purchased a Jayco JayFeather 21mml with a murphy bed. Bought in AZ pulled home to CO. really short pin and only on 1 side of bed installed by factory so bed falls during transport. I am thinking about replacing the existing pin and adding another on opposite side. any thoughts or similar experiences/fixes would be appreciated

I don't have a murphy bed, but that sounds like exactly what I would do. Doesn't sound like one latch on one side would be sufficient. There is probably some rocking back and forth as you go down the road, so it comes unlatched. Should be a fairly easy fix.

Advise you travel with Murphy bed in down position. Up position puts too much stress on hinge and gas struts. I broke one of our struts the first time we traveled with Murphy bed up.

I replaced many of those types of things with much better ones. Not a Murphy bed but I added catches to draws that would come open during road trips. Lots of other items also fixed with better, thicker catches. I always replace most things that break with much better ones.
