Need a backup camera on the quick...

Need some help on a camera selection.
Wife and I never use a backup camera. She is my eyes and ears.
We have a 75 day camping trip coming up next week. BUT...wife just got called to go to Maui for FEMA (she is a nurse) She will be there for 3 weeks.
Our plan is for me to take off in a week or so and go solo from Florida to Maine. She will meet me in Maine sometime around the second week of September.
My situation is backing up blind now. I need a camera and fast. What do you guys recommend? Want something dependable.
Thanks

This is the one I bought 2 years ago and works fine and never loses signal.

OMG. That’s awsome. You get a nice leisurely drive up here and then get a few weeks of r and r before your wife comes. I dream of this.

I got a similar camera from amazon. Rohent RV Backup Camera Wireless HD 1080P 7''. Works great as a review camera. I haven't tried backing up with it. I really like having it.

Don't forget, there is no harm in getting out and looking as many times as it takes.

Yep. I get it. I just feel uncomfortable backing up blind for any amount of time.

No backup camera is a dependable means of backing up in tight quarters. The one time I used it for that purpose, I bent my ladder on a low hanging branch that I didn’t see in the camera’s field of vision. A mistake made once, and no more.

Yakry is one of the least expensive wireless cameras. Nice dash mount monitor that can display two cameras. They’ll give you a second camera for free if you request it. Easy install.

What you going to do when the camera fails? Get comfortable with backing up without a camera or helper and you will be much happier... Its really not that hard... Tight spots i will get out a few times just to check things out and adjust accordingly. A trick a truck driver taught me when i was moving truck and trailers around the yard, pull far enough ahead until you can see where you want to go in your mirror... has never let me down and i can usually get in my spot in one shot..

zrock is right - if you are a man you have to learn to back up a trailer. If I am not sure I get out and look. If I have 4' I open the truck door and look at the ground and gage 4'. I stop at 3.5' because 4.5' is too far. For me it is easy to gage a few feet. Oh, there have been times when I have 4' to back up and I get out and look 2 or 3 times to back up 4'. Looking at the ground helps.

Not to hijack a thread, but I'm looking for cameras also. Backup and hitch-up cameras..

I would have been one saying that taking care and checking is enough... But I just got done repairing jack-knife tongue damage from an over aggressive back-in at home. I think a view of the hitch articulating would have saved me some bucks.

sorry but those things on the side of your truck are called mirrors... you should be able to gauge a jackknife when backing up.. A camera is really not gong to help if you do not use it like your mirrors..
Personally i think towing any type of trailer should require a license upgrade like the bigger travel trailers. I see so many people that do not have the skills or knowledge to tow a trailer.. I have seen people when working at a park take 45 min to pull into a drive through site. That same person was also driving with bald tires in the winter, damage to box sides from not locking 5th wheel among other thigs..

I use my second Yakry camera for hitch up duty when my able bodied assistant is not around. Just plug it into the back seat cigarette lighter outlet and attach to tailgate with a magnet. The monitor will display both cameras. Although my vehicle has a back up camera, the image on the Yakry camera is much better.

Besides back up camera, I use either battery road flares at night or those little orange disks they use for marking athletic fields.

You need at least 8, four for each side. I place them on the ground where I want the trailer to go. The four on each side gives a good perspective to keep things straight. The battery road flares are like hockey pucks with LEDs. Great to keep things quiet affter dark.
