Hey y'all. I've been looking into travel trailers and stumbled across this community in my research. I've always tent camped so buying a trailer is kind of nerve racking and would appreciate any help you could give me.

RV shows, dealer visits, and renting a few times will help. Don't assume your tow vehicle will be sufficient no matter what. It has a very intricate relationship to your final decision.

So many friendly folks here are willing to share, so ask away!

Welcome to the forum. Good luck on your search and congrats on the new lifestyle.

Look at multiple units, rent a unit or two and remember the floor plan is one of the most important criteria as you have to "live" in and with it.

Do a lot of research, and visit every RV sales lot around. Don't be afraid to shop used as well. Most of us take great care of our "home away from home" prior to upgrading, and great deals are out there to be had. With so many floor plans available it will be a matter of personal preference, but as you window shop you will begin to narrow down choices depending on personal preferences, like whether or not an outdoor kitchen is a must have or a separate bedroom is the only way to go. And as mentioned earlier, find out exactly what your tow vehicle is rated for and then stay below that by about 20%, especially if you plan to camp in mountainous areas. Good luck with the search, fire away with the questions you are sure to have, and enjoy the RV life!!

As you are "window shopping" you will notice things that are done well and other things not so well between different brands/units.

Start a "nice to have" and "must have" list. For example, you may prefer ducted heat/air and a vent in the restroom or frameless windows. Maybe leveling system and frame construction.

Whatever your preferences are (within the price range you are looking for) go on your list and help narrow your search.

Look at as many campers as you can and take your time before you buy.
