Smile New member - Do we still need to de-winterize new MH?

Hello all! I am excited to be part of this group.

My husband and I just bought a Forest River Vibe. It came with the ability to add a washer and dryer. We will not use this feature. Do we still need to de-winterize? We are going out for the first time this weekend.
Thanks for your help.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We’re sure glad you joined the gang here!

Congrats on the new rig! I'll let some of the cold-weather guys comment on your question. Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new rv!!

De-winterize? Depends on how the motorhome was winterized prior to purchas.....suggest asking the seller. However, a good flushing does not hurt.

I would, especially if they used RV anti-freeze to winterize the rig.

I would hook it up to city water and flush everything out, i also fill my holding tank up with a couple of cups of bleach and let it sit for a hour or so and run that through the pipes and then dump the holding tank.
If you purchased this new the dealer should have explained what you needed to do on first use and if the unit had been winterized or pipes just blown out.

I'm not sure, but I think the OP is wondering if they need to dewinterize the W/D lines since the coach is plumbed to add a W/D but they aren't going to have a W/D. Maybe the OP can clarify their question.

I would say they don't have to dewinterize those lines. They'll dewinterize the rest of the coach when they go out just from using it at the campsite. I actually don't think those lines can be dewinterized because they'd be capped off. I don't know how you'd either winterize or dewinterize capped off lines.

Anyone?

Hook up a short water hose to each valve. Stick the end of the hose into the drain for washer. Turn on the water valve, then do the other side.
Because if you don't dewinterize the washer inlets, you will leave antifreeze mixing with the rest of the fresh water lines.

Thanks for clarifying that! I didn't even think about there being AF in the washer lines that'll get out into the rest of the system.
