New to living in a travel trailer

Hello all, I am new to living in a travel trailer. Learning many new things and googling a lot.

My questions are- I have a dual propane with a regulator. I know when one tank runs empty it will switch over to the full tank.

1. Do I need to turn the valve to close on the empty tank right away or can I leave it open.
2. And at what point if at all do I need to turn the regulator to point to the full tank

I currently went out and turned the empty tank to close and turned the regulator switch to point to the full tank.

I want to make sure I am doing this correctly so I don't damage anything else.

Thanks in advance

Amy

Howdy Amy and WELCOME

The 1st cylinder valve you open becomes Primary
SLOWLY Open the valve (should hear a CLICK)
Turn the Indicator Lever towards that 1st cylinder
Indicator shows GREEN

SLOWLY Open the other cylinder valve....it then becomes Secondary

When the 1st cylinder goes empty the Indicator will show RED
Regulator will Auto swap to other (Secondary) cylinder
Turn Indicator lever towards that cylinder......turns GREEN

Valve out the empty cylinder.
Disconnect the Pigtail Hose and take cylinder to be refilled
**Refill at your convenience (before other cylinder goes empty)
***Best to valve out the empty one when you notice it has gone empty

"Valve out"??
What the heck is that?
Do you mean close the valve on the empty cylinder?

It would be opposite of 'valve in'

You done good... just close the empty one before you disconnect that hose. No rush.

You said at the beginning "Learning many new things and googling a lot."
Add to that 'giggling a lot'... lots more fun. Damaging things seems to be a part of it.... mitigate and minimize.
