Newbie Here

Thanks for accepting my request to join. Have camped all my life. Own a vintage Scotty and a more modern Jayco x17Z Hybrid. I am looking to upgrade to a little larger trailer.
Love the Lance product. What is the best id size trailer out there. Under 30ft no more than 7500lbs? I need input from the trailer pros on this site

For a bumper pull, I have a hard stop at 30 feet, leaving my self the grace to consider up to 32 feet.

Over 32 feet, I want a fifth wheel up to 35 feet with the grace to 37 feet.

Over 37 feet, I want a class A Diesel leaving myself the grace to take a gasoline model.

Weights are another conversation and speak more about the truck.

of the available 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 trucks, each fits it's own rank.

1500 = light trailer, under 6000lbs.
2500 = med trailer.. 6000 - 8000 and some like to overload a 5th wheel on them.
3500 = fifth wheel territory

3500 dually = BIGGER fifth wheel territory.

Which lance floorplan do you fancy?

Welcome

I think the term best is subjective. Everyone seems to have different priorities in that regard. I'll start you out by saying I think the "Nash" trailers might fit the bill nicely. I prefer Northwood/Outdoors RV brands. Grand Designs products seem to be very popular as well. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

@Plasma - I fancy the 2375 with roadster interior and the full compliment of options. Second choice is 2285. However I am on 150 Ecoboost so, I am concerned about lugging up to 7K.

@1361 - need to check out the ORVs. no dealer in my area tho. I love the GD 2600 RB and 2670MK with desk since I can work from the road. But......the wife is not down with the brown on brown on brown and I have to agree. same towing concern with the F-150 with these two models.

Lance is a very good trailer. Not sure any light trailers are any better.

The front of a Lance trailer is aerodynamic and they are built lower so I think a F-150 Eco-Boost truck is a pretty good match for the trailers you are looking at.

Artic Fox and Outdoor RV are built with a better frame. Maybe look on-line at some of the smaller trailers just to see if there are any you like. These trailers are heavy and typically need a 3/4 ton truck tow vehicle to lug them around.

The Grand Design trailers are too dark inside for me too.

Yeah, uhmm,,, Id say it's important that one be happy with the interior.

Frankly, I would have a look at the Jayco models and the Grand Design models to start with.

As to your F150, what year and package on it?

@Plasma - the F150 is 2016 FX4 Lariat with the 502A package. Max tow package. After reading for a few hours last night and again this morning, the ORVs are top of the line for rugged 4 season camping. We are currently flat landers and won't be in BLM / NF every weekend. But that will change in a few years. Still have time to make decision on the next longer term unit.

We own a Lance 1995, and have had no issues after the first year of extensive use. Lance has their own forum so you won’t find owners on here.

The tongue weight fully loaded will be close to 1,000 lbs on the 2375, and 800 on the 2285.

They just started making a 2465, but no info on loaded tongue weight. But it’s a front living room, with a king bed in the rear.

Can’t stress more on what ever you decide to purchase to do a detailed eye inspection before making the purchase. All manufacturers are capable of putting out bad units. Everything should line up perfectly on a Lance.

Thats a good truck.. The problem with ORV's id they are HEAVY, and dealers aren't all over the place.

Have you seen the TAB trailers? I have no idea how big of a unit you are looking for, but the TAB trailers are so nice looking inside. But they are smaller.

I don't know your intended use of a trailer, and I don't know your expectations on size and all that .. so it's hard to say.

I can say though, there's something to "less is more"

And what about Airstream trailers. Up to 28 foot, I think you're fine on YOUR F150...No slides, but then again, no slides to break.

SMALL toilet room though, depending on your size. this could be an issue. I'm a rather small adult at 5 10, 180 lbs. and I felt the toilet area just small enough to be uncomfy.

If you're a Clydesdale, you have to take that into consideration.
