Off Road

We took a short cut on a single lane road made of dust. The "road" was originally made for horse carts at the beginning of the 20th century and never improved. I'm really glad my Winnebago 1706FB sits up high with the off road set-up. Unfortunately being off road ready does nothing to keep the dust out. Everything had to be wiped down or washed when we reached the campsite. Click image for larger version

Ahh, the dusty trail. Was on one last year because my GPS didn't show it as a dotted line. Much dust, much cussing.

That actually looks like a decent road, other than the talcum powder dust.

The Australians have figured this out. I was in a Aussie camper recently that has a fan that intakes through the roof of the camper through a filter - it exhausts....out all the cracks. Keeps the interior pressure positive, significantly reducing dust.

I thought it was brilliant.

My RV is so tight, it's not the dust inside that's the issue, it's dust all over the outside of the RV and on the car I'm towing that's the hassle. The back of my RV was covered, top to bottom. Engine was covered too.

Mine is tight too. Just went about 50 miles over washboard roads with lots of dust and none inside.

Wait a minute... One of those pictures shows the corner of a Ford F-series. I wonder where that came from.

If you look through their website you'll find that people have them here in North America. They have an ordering and shipping process.

I'm seriously considering one of these in a couple of years when our oldest will be too busy to travel with us.

I wonder if it is just coincidence that the awning looks like a missile launcher? Could be handy when people leave loud generators on late into the night or extremely early.

We did 800 miles offroad this year.

The mounts for the air bags bent and the glass (temperd) in the lower panel of back corner side windows shatterd.

Bummer. Sounds like quite a rig though. How fast were you driving?
