Paint or no paint?

OK we are sold on the new Premier 22RBPR. Because this is a brand new model for 2013 we want to tour one before ordering so we have a little wait time (exp'd @ dealer in Aug).

In talking with my dealer this past week I had inquired about full body paint so he checked on the factory price and it was quoted as $5k. He said his rep at Premier reminded him he could do it cheaper there at the dealership. This dealer (Lazy Days - Tucson) has a collision repair center with a massive "state of the art" paint booth and a very good reputation. He is thinking Lazy Days can do it for around $3k. One added advantage is that my truck is cherry red and the dealer can replace the burgundy with a color matched cherry.

So ... My questions are:

Is the advantage of paint over decals worth the $?

and

Would you opt for the factory or dealer performing the work?

TIA

Dan

Well why not? If you're going to spend money to look good, you might as well spend more on a custom paint job.
I would check for reviews from the dealer for the work they do. If they do a good job, they should have good reviews, and plenty of them.
The factory work is usually done pretty fast, and they have a routine system that doesn't allow for mistakes. But the material might be less durable too.
I would check to see if there is a warranty for any of the custom decal work before I spend extra money on it.
But I'm cheap about those things.
Take care!

Well worth it! On our DSDP it was a $7,000 option, but it still looks as good (minus a few rock chips) as when it left the factory. When we joined a local Good Sam chapter they thought is was brand new.

Update: We decided to go with the dealer painted option. I'll post pics in a few months when we pick it up. Thanks again!
