I don't know what this means but if it's not somehow interacting with the propane what would be the point of having a vent?
The vent is to allow atmospheric pressure on one side of the diaphragm to adjust for altitude and barometric pressure changes to allow the same air/fuel ratio under all conditions.

Found the leak about 5 minutes after the package was delivered. I had been fooling around with the soapy water mess off and on during the previous week and never found the leak. This thing is worth every penny and now has a permanent home in my RV.
