Quickie Brake Controller Question please!

We have a Gulf Stream 188rb TT and Ford F150......not sure if that information is important,.........hubby had a brake controller installed, they installed a Reliance 47284, charged us $14.95 for the device, not including labor.

So, I know nothing about these, and all the reading in the world hasn't made it any easier...but with what I have read, I'm not feeling too good about the device they used solely based on price. Plus last night we discovered the brake lights were going on and off intermittently while the truck was completely off and locked up. So, I'm not feeling real good about the installer either.

Today I am going to Camp World to see about a different device, husband wants to get a re-install this week sometime.......can anybody offer me some advise before I go there.....salesmen aren't always the best source of info when they are trying to sell a product.

I thank you very much in advance.

I installed a Prodigy brake controller from eTrailer in about ten minutes. If your truck is pre wired it is really simple. The controller worked flawlessly.

Lrakeahs-

Tekonsha is a well-known name, and etrailer has some sharp folks.

When you call them, ask about the Tekonsha adapter. Here's a link to one adapter. The Ford connector is different by model year, so ask etrailer which one will work for your truck.

Assuming that you have what you need under the hood and at the back end of the truck, the adapter should make the install fast and easy- no additional wires or splicing/crimping required. It's truly plug-and-play.

I believe Ford also offers a plug-in controller for late-model F-150s.

DISCLAIMER: I could be incorrect. I don't have a F-150, but have gleaned some info about them as I studied the motorhomes based on the E-series vans and F-53 Class A chassis.

Get the P2 or P3 Tekonsha brake controller.

I had a cheap one and it drove me crazy.

Installed the P3 Tekonsha controller and can't say enough good about it.

I also have the P3 and love it! For as important job it does it doesn't pay to skimp.

I corresponded with George from eTrailer today. ...right, I know, on a Sunday!..wow, great service..... Placed my order and received confirmation that it went out today.

Shout out to eTrailer for really really great customer service.

We ended up going with the Tekonsha Primus IQ....after watching all the videos there was just something about the little slider adjuster thing my husband really liked...lol!

Thanks again for everyone's input!
